A post-apocalyptic Oblivion audition is coming , Oblivion is Disney Pictures’ attempt to produce a futuristic film directed by Joseph Kosinski, the same guy from the sequel of Cult Movie Tron. We know by now that the movie will have stunning special effects, the main cast process has started by Gail Goldberg, who was promoted as the VP Casting Executive in Disney.
This is a huge bet from Disney in terms of producing not only a blockbuster film but a remarkable one, we’ve followed how the executive and producing teams have been assembled and one of the major contributors is going to be David Fincher, the very same person that has achieve amazing success in different movies as a director like Seven , Benjamin Button, and recently with The Social Network ,and personally for me the great and amazing movie The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo.
Though, lately, we’ve learnt that Disney has chosen to not move forward into producing the film, we know that the relationship between Joseph Kosinski and Walt Disney remain strong. The main reason if why this decision has been made from the top executives at Disney seems to be the budget, while Disney said that is not burying the project itself, instead they’ve given the option to Joseph to offer the project to other film studios , from the candidates we see that Fox, Universal and others might be interested in producing the film. People could wonder that maybe the not so great result from Tron Legacy could be the reason to not bet on this new project, or due to the themes that Disney has always preferred and being this project a bit dark could be another reasons right now, we hope that Joseph can start making this movie right now, we’ll keep you updated, there are people that are deeply involved like Jesse Berger’s Radical Pictures.
We’re expecting the graphic novel to be released this year and certainly we’ve been amazed by the graphics in the last comic con. The plot is about the future of Earth, when humans live on the clouds and avoid the aliens scavengers that lives in the ruins. Jack is the main character that finds a mysterious woman in a crashed pod, and he starts to question everything he knew.
